{Player's notes: This is a song about Balamb Garden, the place, the furres, the burdens, and the joys. I wrote two versions of it. One from Kavaria's viewpoint, and one from the viewpoint of someone standing in the audience who knew her well. It's kind of a song that reveals her own thoughts and feelings about the Garden and it's furres as well as their possible feelings about her, when crises bring them to her for guidance.}

{First version, Kavaria's view as she looks out into the crowd of faces gathering rapidly in the lobby of the Garden from a somewhat hidden vantage point.}

Butterflies in my stomach, as I wait behind the scenes.

Now the crowd will gather, to take their cues from me,

I can see the questions in their eyes. . . .

    "Why is this happening?"

    "What does it all mean?"

    "Please tell me how that I can do my part!"

Events carry us forward, unyielding as the tides.

There is no time to back down, when the waves come you must ride or drown.

Look at all those faces, waiting there for me.

I don't know what to say to them, but I've got to find a way.

'Cause they all depend on this one. Words falling from my lips.

For I'm the one he chose to lead them now . . . .

And I've never before been in a place quite like this one.

I've never had to do what I do now.

And I've never before seen a crowd quite like this one.

Their faith in me is all that drives me on.

For now I will remember, that I am not alone.

This is not a burden I must carry on my own.

They all stand before me, offering their strength.

Waiting on my word to give their all.

Look at all these faces, focusing on me.

They all believe I'll lead them now, but the truth is they'll lead me.

{Second version, her close friend, standing on the fringes of the audience in the lobby, and well knowing the expressions they can see on her face though they aren't close enough to hear what she might be saying.}

Butterflies in her stomach, as she waits behind the scenes.

Now the crowd will gather, while she remains unseen,

Hiding the turmoil in her eyes. . . .

    "How is this happening?"

    "Why must it be me?"

    "Where will I find the wisdom that I need?"

Events carry her forward, unyielding as the tides.

She has no time to back down, when the waves come she will ride, not drown.

She looks upon our faces, waiting here for her.

She's not sure what to say to us, but I know she'll find a way.

Yes we all depend on that one! Words falling from her lips.

For she's the only one to lead us now.

And she's never before been in a place quite like this one.

She's never had to do what she will now.

And she's never before seen a crowd quite like this one.

Our faith in her is what will drive her on.

For now she will remember, that she is not alone.

This is not a burden she must carry on her own.

We all stand before her, offering our strength.

Waiting on her word to give our all.

She looks into our faces, focusing on hers.

She believes she needs us now, but the truth is we need her.
