Role-play Background: (A rather lengthy sketch
of her life...)
The Early
Years:
Kavaria comes from
a rather ordinary town with ordinary citizens. Her father was a ne'er do
well who came and went, and then came again... lying to and stealing from
everyone, including herself. Her mother was very loving, but also very
weak. She was often incapacitated by her grief, or by her fears, leaning
on her daughter for support. Eventually, she died, while Kavaria was still
in her early teens, leaving her with only her ne'er do well father. She
stayed, faithfully playing the part of the dutiful daughter, for about 2
years after her mother died. Finally, unwilling to any longer put up with
her father's lies and criminal way of life anymore, she left home at the
age of 16 and traveled from her hometown of Ridanya to the distant town of
Mira Donair.
She pursued a career in dancing for a while, for she
loved to dance, and to sing, though she could not write music herself. She
traveled a few times on tour, but her main home remained in Mira Donair.
After about a year she met a young male canine who she fell in love with
almost at first sight. They got married a year later and she spent 4 years
with him, before he was killed on the job in a mining accident. Kavaria
was devastated and decided she could no longer perform on the stage. She
was left with many fans, but no real friends. At the age of 22 she set off
with her pack and little else to see what she could find in the world,
looking for a place to belong, and mourning her losses. She caught a ship
leaving Mira Donair's harbour, and never looked back.
A New
Direction:
A couple of years later in her wanderings, she bumped into a furre
named Krazy Katten one day, and took an instant liking to him. She thought
it might be nice to have a companion in her travels, and a friend with
whom to share her experiences as she explored, though she made it clear
she wasn't ready for anything more than friendship. He agreed to travel with
her, and they began exploring.. but before long, he took up with a very
young female who seemed to have him totally bewitched almost as soon as
she met him. Kavaria was rather sad to lose her companion, but was glad to
see him finding happiness... until she discovered his lover was lying to
him. She set out to prove it to him, for she could not stand to see him
being deceived in such a manner. This, she managed to do finally. Katten
left the girl and resumed traveling with Kavaria. However, she and Katten
were then afraid for their lives, because the girl he had been seeing was
a strong magic user. They set out to find someone who could tell them if
they had any talent towards using magic and how to utilize it, as a means
of protecting and defending themselves.
They very shortly encountered a wise old mage by the
name of Gemini Moon. Gemini saw a lot of potential in Kavaria and her
companion, so he agreed to teach them some of what he knew of the art of
magic. Under his tutelage, they began to learn how to use their magical
talents. Still, Krazy Katten feared that his former lover would come after
them, and that they were not learning fast enough. Continuing to learn
from Gemini, the two of them also joined Balamb Garden Academy, hoping for
both sanctuary and additional learning in how to protect themselves.
Katten and Kavaria quickly learned the ropes at the
Academy, being accepted as students and progressing as quickly as they
were able to. Kavaria found that her strength lay in healing magic, while
Katten seemed to be more talented with fire magic. They hadn't been at the
Garden for all that long when Kavaria had a talk with the then-current
Headmaster, Squall Centra one day. She had previously spoken to him and
offered her help if it was needed for anything around the Garden. He
always seemed overworked, and she had a real desire to help him out. Squall
had eventually set her to helping keep Balamb Garden's internal computer
records up to date. This day though, she was surprised to hear him say
that he was planning to leave the Garden soon. It gave her a sad feeling.
Although she and Katten had recently passed their SeeD exam and graduated
to be SeeD, she wasn't sure if she would want to remain at the Academy with a new
headmaster.
A few days later, to her astonishment, Squall came and
asked Kavaria to take over as Headmaster of the Garden. It was with mixed
feelings that she agreed to don this responsibility. She promised him,
that she would take good care of his Garden, and all the furres in it.
What followed was a time of upheaval and change, both for Kavaria and
Katten as well as those in the Garden. Kavaria began a huge re-modeling
project on the Garden, and Katten helped her to make the plans she had
into reality. Many attacks were made on the Garden, and a few times
assassins were sent directly after Kavaria herself. Through it all,
Kavaria protected the Garden, and the SeeD and students protected her.
Struggling with
too many Responsibilities:
There came a day though, when neither could do enough.
In her office, with a student she had recently accepted to the Academy,
Kavaria was attacked by a villain named Crayle and 3 of his gang. They
demanded that she give them a stone, but she didn't know what they were
talking about. After a brief struggle, Kavaria was knocked out, and the
student, Lynalei, was killed. Crayle and his fellows made off with a
brooch, which Kavaria had been wearing.
Upon awakening, she found the student and attempted to
heal her, then passed out again. When next she woke, the student was
simply gone. Kavaria still wonders what happened to her. It was later
discovered that the stolen brooch had been mere casing for a summoning
stone for a very powerful Guardian Force. It was eventually recovered by
Pyrus Whitefire and Blixtion when they discovered Crayles hangout in
Timber.
After many hours of study and meditation, Kavaria
gained a better understanding and knowledge of how to use the
summoning stone which she had unknowingly carried with her for so many
years. And she realized, after Crayle was finally defeated and another
summoning stone was discovered in the ashes of his remains, that she had
been given this stone for a purpose. It was up to her, to find the rest of
them. Find the rest of the Guardian Forces. They would be needed. Why, she
wasn't sure... but she knew that it was so. She developed a rapport with
the Guardian Force she held the summoning stone for, although direct
communication is almost impossible. Feeling her way through the emotions
and images evoked when trying to communicate, she got some very definite
answers to a few things though.
Still very much learning and searching for more
information about Guardian Forces, as well as the locations of the rest of
the stones, she stepped down as HeadMaster of Balamb Garden and asked her
trusted friend and SeeD Pyrus Whitefire to take over this post. However,
shortly following this, Pyrus' wife and children suddenly disappeared from
a beach near Balamb Town. The letter sent to him at the Garden to inform
him of their fate made it seem as though a Guardian Force had been
responsible for this, and that they had been killed.
Pyrus himself took this hard, but seemed to be coping at
first. A couple of weeks later, Kavaria got an urgent summons from Lorelai
Leonhart about something she'd found out in a desolate area near Timber.
Arriving at the scene via Lorelai's teleportation , Kavaria scarcely had
time to examine the strange half creature half ship which seemed both
fierce and forlorn all at once. Eden's gemstone, hanging from her neck,
reacted immediately and in a few seconds, the huge form had vanished with,
quite literally, a flash of blinding light.
Kavaria attempted to make sense of this. The next day,
Pyrus Whitefire brought her something he'd found on the scene where his
wife and children had disappeared. It appeared to be a fragment of a
gemstone. At Kavaria's urging, Pyrus went back and combed the area to find
more pieces of this shattered gemstone. When they had gathered them all
together, Eden's stone reacted once again, and the fragments were melded
back into a whole. Another summoning stone. This seemed to support the
theory that a Guardian Force had destroyed Pyrus' family.
Kavaria was unwilling to believe this, however, and took
to meditating with both stones in an attempt to ferret out the truth.
After a week or so of this, she thought she had discovered the strange and
mysterious events that had actually occurred, though there were many
details she couldn't be sure of.
Then more strange events occurred. An imposter showed up
at the Garden one night claiming to be Pyrus. Very shortly after he left
Pyrus himself showed up, very badly injured and physically very much
altered. Kavaria had to step up and take back the position of HeadMaster
at the Garden again. Pyrus left as soon as he was well enough to travel,
saying he had to seek out those who had done this to him. Kavaria gave him
Ark's summoning stone to take with him, as her meditation had revealed
that the Guardian Force had a desire to be with him; perhaps out of
remorse for what had happened to his family, though she wasn't sure of
that.
Unknown Terrors:
There followed an extremely confusing and tragic series
of events. First, Garden student Chaz Belcqua attempted to attack someone
inside the Garden, and had to be expelled. Next, he mounted attacks on
Kavaria herself when she was in Balamb Town trying to investigate the
mystery of the fish shortage. While she was leading Chaz on a merry goose
chase out of town to keep him from harming anyone else, she fell victim to
an ambush set by someone else and was captured.
She was taken to a cave, deep in the desolate wilderness
between Timber and Deling City. Here, much to her surprise, she found
Pyrus Whitefire, Crystal Hi-Kitai, and several others that she knew as
well as many other furres she'd never met before, all being held captive.
Some were badly injured. Pyrus, despite his dragon-strength had been
unable to break free, and because the captors had removed his necklace
which gave him control over his dragon form he was himself the cause of
some of the injuries of those present. Kavaria immediately set to trying
to work out a way to keep the rest safe from Pyrus should he happen to
transform again and healing those badly injured. After two days though,
she fainted into a coma for a couple of days from over-use of her magical
talents. After she awoke, she learned to moderate their use... healing
only what was life-threatening and attempting to save her strength. The
days wore on interminably.
All the captives were taken at least once to some sort
of laboratory where they were heavily sedated and some sort of experiments
were run on them, then they would be roughly thrown back into the holding
cell with the rest in the darkened cave. Hope was thin, but Kavaria and
Crystal managed to keep everyone alive though there were injuries they
couldn't properly heal since Kavaria had to save her abilities for only
the most serious of wounds and... and those were all too frequent as it
was. Crystal had no medical supplies or such, so could only perform the
most basic of first aid on the lesser wounds.
Back in the outside world, a clone had been set in place
to replace Kavaria so that her absence would go unnoticed. She didn't
realize she was a clone, however. She continued everything just as Kavaria
would have, and no one realized that the real individual lay worn and
desolate... but stubbornly refusing to give up, in a cave. Kavaclone (to
clearly indicate who I'm speaking about) was, however, not entirely well.
She was tired frequently and felt sick often. When she seemed to be doing
better, she went to Balamb Town one day for lunch with Krazy Katten. They
ran into Blixtion, Pyrus Whitefire, and Crystal Hi-Kitai outside the
Mystique's curio shop. Crystal had gone berserk and was attacking Pyrus,
who was already seriously injured and lay on the ground. Blixtion was
attempting to break up the fight.
Kavaclone and Katten pulled Pyrus inside the Mystique's
shop to get him away from Crystal. He refused, although he was clearly
dying, to allow Kava to heal him. The shopkeeper attempted to help,
bringing out some herbs and bandages. Suddenly, Crystal barged in after
them with Blixtion hot on her heels. Kavaria and Katten stood to shield
Pyrus and the shopkeeper as the two battled through the small store. When
Crystal had finally left, Kavaclone and Katten discovered that Pyrus had
died. Discussing the aftermath of the battle though, the shopkeeper
revealed that Pyrus had slipped her a note to give to Kavaria just before
he died. The shopkeeper gave this to Kavaclone.
The note was confusing. It told her to find Pyrus, and
something about tracks in Timber. Kavaria wanted to start a search
immediately to try and discover why a dying Pyrus would leave her a note
that told her to find Pyrus. Upon returning from Balamb Town, however, she
fell ill again. Katten took her to their home nearby where she lay ill for
several days. As soon as she felt ready to depart, they left immediately
for Timber. They began a search, but her tiredness and illnesses only got
worse. Several times she fell into a deep sleep and didn't wake for days.
Finally, however, they found what they'd been looking for. In a darkened
portion of the Timber tracks, covered by an archway where a road crossed
over the tracks at that point, they found Pyrus' sword. With it, they
found a small dragonet who seemed to come to life from the etching on the
sword itself.
Kavaclone fed the dragonet, and it followed her and
Katten back to the hotel, and then back to their home near Balamb Garden.
It appeared to be telepathic somewhat, but only spoke to Kava, and wasn't
always understandable. It directed her to go back to the shop in Balamb
Town where Pyrus had died. Here, Kava discovered that Pyrus had left Ark's
summoning stone with the shopkeeper, and she realized that the real Pyrus
must be alive. She got back the stone from the shopkeeper and returned
home to plan what to do next.
However, Kavaclone fell into a light coma again for
several days. Upon awakening, the dragonet told her to go to Deling City.
They left the next day, leaving word at the Garden to please send a squad
of SeeD as backup if possible. In Timber, they ran into Rinoa Glasshart,
who joined them in journeying to find Pyrus. Once they left Timber, they
got only halfway to Deling City before the dragonet directed them off
course and straight to the cave where Pyrus and all the others were being
held.
There followed a fierce battle where Katten, Rinoa,
Kavaclone, and the few SeeD who had been sent as backup fought off all
those remaining that were holding the captives. There didn't seem to be
that many there. Kavaclone was killed in the battle. Rinoa purged the
drugs and chemicals that had been used to keep many of the prisoners
sedated from their systems, enabling them to help in the fight. All the
prisoners were released, and they retreated immediately back to Timber to
recuperate and heal those injured. They travelled very slowly back to
Balamb Garden. Pyrus and Kavaria, along with the others from the Academy
who had been held hostage were rather weak at first and needed a lot of
food and rest.
Troubled but
Whole?:
Troubled by the ordeal she had endured, and unable to
solve the mystery of who was behind it, Kavaria nevertheless soon settled
back into her duties as HeadMaster at the Garden. She was badly shaken,
though she tried not to show it. She requested that everyone involved not
reveal to anyone else that she herself had been one of the captives who
had been cloned. They have honored this wish. Pyrus insisted upon leaving
again to go after those responsible, though she begged him not to go
alone. His eyes had been permanently damaged during their stay in the cave
in a way that even she was unable to heal. Eventually, Kavaria asked Rinoa,
who had settled back into the Garden as an Instructor, if she would take
over as HeadMaster of the Garden. Despite her inability to find those
responsible for her experiences, Kavaria knew she still had to find the
rest of the Guardian forces.
Rinoa agreed to this, and so Kavaria stayed another week
or two to help her get settled before departing to an undisclosed location
in search of more information on Guardian forces.
To be continued.... {After more of her history gets
old enough for me to put it here! :p} |
